The national sports federations under the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) are set to embark on a special visit to the OlympAfrica Facility Project in Amasaman on March 8, 2025. This visit aims to assess the progress of the facility, which is expected to play a key role in grassroots sports development in Ghana.
The OlympAfrica project, an initiative supported by the OlympAfrica Foundation and the GOC, seeks to provide young athletes with access to quality training facilities. The Amasaman site is envisioned as a hub for talent development, offering opportunities for athletes across various disciplines to train and compete at an elite level.
Representatives from national sports federations, as well as key development partners, will participate in the visit. During the tour, stakeholders will inspect the ongoing construction and discuss strategies to ensure the facility’s timely completion and effective utilization.
Speaking ahead of the visit, a key stakeholder emphasized the significance of the OlympAfrica project in Ghana’s sports development agenda. “This facility represents a major step in nurturing young talents and equipping them with the necessary infrastructure to excel. We remain committed to its completion and long-term sustainability for grassroots sports,” he stated.
The sightseeing tour underscores the national sports federations’ dedication to advancing sports excellence and infrastructure development in Ghana. The outcomes of the visit are expected to influence future policies and partnerships aimed at enhancing sports facilities nationwide.
