Ghana has been put in group H of the tournament alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

Ghana is the least ranked among the countries that have qualified for the tournament in Qatar.

And considering the performance of the Black Stars recently, many believe it will be very difficult for Ghana to make it out of the group stage.[ads3]

But Asamoah Gyan who represented Ghana in three FIFA World Cup tournaments and currently holds the record as the highest African topscorer in the mundial with six goals believes Ghana is capable of qualifying out of the group stage.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM, the former Sunderland attacker said, “We [Ghana] can qualify from the group stage because we have done some before at a point that we were underdog in our group. We can qualify but my problem with the current squad is their mindset. Most of the players in the current Ghana squad play for top clubs in Europe and some are playing consistently, so if we are able to work on their psyche, I think we will make it out of the group stages.”[ads4]

Ghana secured a qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar by defeating Nigeria on aggregate scoreline in the final playoff round.

Ghana will opened the 2022 FIFA World Cup against Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal on November 24 before facing South Korea and Uruguay.[ads5]
