Ghana Premier League giant, Asante Kotoko will be playing their CAF Champions League tie against FC Nouadhibou behind closed doors.
Asante Kotoko will be hosting FC Nouadhibou in the second leg of the CAF Champions League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.[ads2]
The Porcupine Warriors go into the game with confidence after drawing the first leg in Mauritania by 1:1.
Kotoko wrote to the Ghanaian government to allow supporters to come to the stadium for the Nouadhibou game but the request has been declined.[ads3]
This was disclosed by the Communication Director of the club, Moses Antwi Benefo in an interview with Kumasi-based Silver FM.
“Our engagement with the COVID-19 taskforce team revealed that they aren’t ready to take things for granted. They insist we continue to play our matches behind closed doors so we have agreed.[ads4]
“It would have been wonderful with the fans, the excitement and the buzz. The presence of supporters cheering the boys would have buoyed the players to perform above themselves.
“But human lives matter so we have agreed to play behind closed doors,” he concluded…[ads5]
