Kumasi Asante Kotoko skipper Amos Frimpong has debunked news speculating that he requested for a transfer out of the Porcupines.
According to an earlier news, the captain together with Daniel Darkwah asked for a release from Asante Kotoko but later rescinded his decision on the deadline day for submission of CAF Champions League squad-list.
The experienced defender has denied the reports, indicating that he has never written or spoken to any Asante Kotoko management member for a release out of the team.
A statement from the defender debunking the reports read “My attention has been drawn to a news circulating that, I (Amos Frimpong) made a “U”-turn to rescind my supposed “request for release” from Asante Kotoko. I will like to state for the records and for clarification of doubt that, no where have I written to or spoken to anybody to be released from the club. The facts of the matter is that, I received a call for extension of my contract and since issues of my contracts are the responsibility of my manager, I tried to reach him on phone over the subject. I could not get through to him so I left text messages for him. I relayed my difficulty in getting to talk to my manager to management and asked for some time to getto hold discussions with him. I finally got to speak to him after about two hours, and headed straight to the club secretariat to append my signature to the extension. It therefore baffles me to read and hear about a supposed “U-turn”. I am therefore urging all to completely disregard any news that says contrary to the hard facts I have given above. By this, I aver my commitment to my contract and to the King’s Club, Asante Kotoko FC of which I have served with Honour,Pride and Dedication. I will continue to do same to the best of my strength and abilities.
God bless us all.
FABULOUS, the Greatest.”
