Bibiani Goldstars FC midfielder Joseph Dinku has revealed team that gave his outfit the toughest opposition this season.
The highly rated midfielder played 22 matches out of the 30 games in the division one league this season, played against FC Samartex, New Edubiase, Sekondi Hasaacas and host of other top-notch clubs in the lower tier division.
Inasmuch as Goldstars FC have secured a ticket to play in the Ghana Premier league next season, Dinku believes Skyy FC gave his outfit the toughest opposition.
Goldstars lost 1:0 to Skyy FC at away in the first round of the season but redeemed themselves by winning the second leg by 2:0 at the Duns Park in Bibiani.
Even though after the league season, Goldstars FC had a better head-to-head against Skyy FC who placed second on the league table, Joseph Dinku believes the Daboase-based club gave them the toughest opposition.
Speaking to ace sportscaster Stephen Kwame Yeboah on Takoradi-based Ahoto FM, Joseph Dinku stated that victory against Skyy FC in Bibiani ensured their qualification to the Ghana Premier league.
“I played 22 matches out of the 30 played, and I think it was Skyy FC that gave us the toughest opposition. That game against them [Skyy FC] in Bibiani was the decider”, he said.
On what motivated them to qualify to the Ghana Premier league, Joseph Dinku said that, ” It was not that easy moving to Goldstars from Hasaacas but the team was prepared to qualify for the premier league. Some premier league clubs even owe their players about two to three month salaries but with Goldstars we were receiving our bonuses and salaries consistently and I think that motivated us a lot.”
Goldstars FC finished the season on top of the zone two table of the division one league thus securing a promotion to play in the Ghana Premier league next season.
