Asante Kotoko youth team coach George Asare has revealed that about ten players will be axed from the team due to age cheating.
Asare who is among the coaches handed the Asante Kotoko youth team (U-15, &U-19) disclosed that the said players didn’t give real age during the team’s justify-your-inclusion exercise in November last year.
“We were able to get the correct ages and the quality that we wanted from the justifier,” Asare told Kotoko Express App.
“However, we did some background checks on them with the help of Deputy Accounts Officer, Richard Akoto and found that about seven to 10 of the players we were looking up to did not give us their correct ages.”

Asare added that, the coaches will continue the project with the remaining players while they expand their hunt to the Junior High and Senior High Schools.
“We are going to keep the others and then move to the JHS and SHS for more talents. I have started talking to the schools. The players we will get from the JHS will go to the U15 while the SHS players will go to the U19.”
