Award-winning Ghanaian actor Mikky Osei Berko popularly known as ‘Dada Boat’ has said most celebrities in the country are poor.
Buttressing his point, the actor believes the entertainment industry in Ghana has collapsed and celebrities are not making enough monies as expected.
“I keep saying that we the Ghanaian celebrities are poor and it is true. Those that show off a bit, it’s not anything that much, nothing dey. It is because there’s no industry”, he said on Kingdom FM.
The actor was speaking on why he needed support for a film project but people think he has enough to finance the said project since he has been in the movie industry for long.
Explaining what determines a celebrity, the famous actor believes having social media followers doesn’t determine who is a celebrity since many are celebrities because of their talent but don’t have much followers on social media.
“Don’t get it twisted, when you go to social media, the following we have something called organic followers and inorganic. Social media does not prove that you are an organic celebrity”.
“For instance, if you go to social and remove your clothes, it doesn’t mean you have anything substantial to provide.
“Look at Kwame Sefa Kayi’s stature, then he should have beaten everybody with followers on social media but there are a lot of people with a lot of followers on social media but it doesn’t anything,” he concluded.
