The National Democratic Congress (NDC) are demanding for equal leadership of committees in the 8th Parliament.
Speaking at a press conference, the leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu stated that the party is demanding for the same number of chairs of the various committees in Parliament because themselves and the NPP have the same number of MPs.
“The NDC caucus will insist that the composition of committees of this 8th Parliament should reflect in its very current nature”, he said..
“We will insist because this is the first time we are having 137 each, therefore, the composition of committees must reflect the strength of the political parties. There must be strict sharing of leadership of the select committees by the two sides of the house”, he added.
Meanwhile, the NPP have responded to the demands of the NDC for equal leadership of the various committees at the 8th parliament.
Responding to the NDC demands, the leader of the NPP caucus in Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu believes the rules of the August House states that the majority populates the leadership of the Committees and must be so.
