Former Minister of Trade and Industry, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has urged President Akufo-Addo to have an inclusive government but not the usual winner takes all.
According to Spio-Garbrah, the election of Alban Bagbin as the speaker of Parliament and the number of NDC MPs in Parliament suggest that now is the time for an inclusive government.[ads2]
He believes the outcome of the just ended 2020 December polls suggest that Ghanaians are fed up with the usual winner takes all but want the two political parties to work together for the betterment of the country.[ads3]
“With a Speaker who does not come from the President’s political party, if the NDC chooses to play hardball politics with the President, he may not be able to push much of his agenda through Parliament. This is, therefore, the time for compromises”, he told Daily Graphic.
“Winner takes all cannot work; the time for winner takes all is over. We must learn to collaborate,” he added.[ads5]
