The Head of History and Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Samuel Adu Gyamfi has advised President Akufo-Addo to avoid appointing his closets into government.

Dr. Adu Gyamfi believes now is the time for President Akufo-Addo to do things right by appointing other individuals who have the capacity to work at the various sectors of the government into power.

“Secondly, it is important that he goes beyond friends, family, cronies and bootlickers and begin to look at individuals who have capacity and have spoken the truth in the private”, he made this call during an interview on TV3 morning show dubbed ‘Newday’.

For equal responsibility, Dr. Adu Gyamfi also called on President Akufo-Addo to include more women in his government since his first term had fewer of the women in charge.

He believes the men have had enough opportunities in power but haven’t utilize them and therefore more women should be included in government this time around.

“The men and the boys have tried but I think that they did not do very well. You can see that they did not do well at all, that is why they have seen the kind of results they have seen”

“They should not tickle themselves, the performance of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the first term was quite abysmally because the expectation of the people were not met”, he added.

Dr. Adu Gyamfi was making the plea as President Akufo-Addo is set to name leaders for the various Ministries and other top government positions.
